Planning Commission

The Mercer Island Planning Commission was established in 1960 as an advisory commission to the City Council. The Planning Commission's role is to advise the City Council on growth management issues, land use polices, and development regulations. For more information see MICC 3.46.

Meetings

The Planning Commission's regularly scheduled meetings are on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 6:00 pm. Board and commission meetings are held in a hybrid format. The public is welcome to join meetings in person at Mercer Island Community & Event Center, 8236 SE 24th Street, Mercer Island, or remotely using Zoom.

Membership

Seven residents comprise the Commission which is staffed by the Community Planning and Development Department.  Planning Commissioners are appointed to a four-year term by the City Council running June 1 - May 31.  See below to view the Planning Commission's bylaws, adopted November 9, 2022)
