Seafair Changes Coming to Groveland Beach
Ready for Seafair? Groveland Beach Park is a popular spot for Islanders and neighbors alike to gather for the festivities, however crowd sizes have grown to exceed safe limits. Beginning this year, Groveland Beach will now have an established maximum capacity of 500 patrons, filled on a first-come-first-serve basis. This change is necessary to ensure the safety of park patrons and allow for adequate emergency response capabilities for Police, Fire, and EMS providers.

From Friday, August 4, through Sunday, August 6, access to the park will be limited to park hours (6:00am - 10:00pm) with Parks, Recreation, and Police staff on-site to manage access. Patrons are not permitted to leave items overnight in the park, and once the park is at capacity, additional visitors will not be allowed to enter.

Signage will be placed at the top of Deerford Road and SE 60th Street along West Mercer Way informing when the park has reached capacity. Parking in the Groveland Neighborhood and West Mercer Way will continue to be extremely limited.

Don't Miss National Night Out
Tuesday, August 1 is National Night Out. This annual community-building event brings together neighbors in cities across the country for an evening focused on connecting with community and crime prevention.

Held the first Tuesday of August, National Night Out is designed to increase awareness about programs like Mercer Island's Neighborhood Watch, Paws on Patrol, emergency preparedness, and other crime prevention and safety efforts.

Join the Mercer Island Police Department by hosting a neighborhood block party and scheduling a visit from Mercer Island emergency personnel - you can receive informational materials to share with your neighbors, learn crime prevention tips, emergency preparedness information, and more. Visit the event webpage for more information.
Parks Restoration Events Ahead
Looking to get outside and support the Island's parks? Join City staff and volunteers for the next restoration event at Pioneer Park on August 3. Crews will come together to remove English ivy that is taking over the understory of Pioneer Park’s SE quadrant. It will be a great chance to get your hands in the dirt, learn about native plants and our local forests, and work alongside neighbors. No experience necessary and all ages welcome; gloves and tools are provided. Visit the event listing on the City Website for more information on this and other upcoming events.
Annual Water Quality Report Now Available
Each year, the City of Mercer Island publishes an Annual Drinking Water Quality Report, and this year's report is ready for your review.

The 2022 Annual Drinking Water Quality Report covers all testing performed between January 1 and December 31, 2022, showing the Island's water quality and standards compliance. Islanders can always share comments on water quality with the City's Utility Board - upcoming meeting and contact information can be found on the City Website.
