Ted was elected to serve on the City Council seat 4 in 2021. Previously, he served 4 years on the Mercer Island Planning Commission, most recently as vice-chair. He also serves on the boards of the Mercer Island Sister City Association and the Friends of Seward Park.
 
Born in Seattle, Ted moved to Mercer Island in 1981. He graduated from MIHS class of ’86, got a BS degree in Architecture from the University of Virginia, and a Technology Management MBA from the University of Washington.

After working 15 years at Microsoft and 10 years at a global technology consulting firm called Avanade, Ted joined the Information Technology department at the City of Seattle, where he currently serves as its Portfolio Manager and Resource Manager.

Ted works every day to create an efficient government that ensures the resources we rely on everyday are dependable, keeps decision making fact-based and transparent, and makes Mercer Island a place we can all proudly call home.

Ted lives with his wife Florence. They have two adult children and two Siamese cats, Valkyrie and Loki. The Weinberg family supports the MI Sister City Association, MI Schools Foundation, MI Youth and Family Services, MI Historical Society, and additional organizations promoting climate change mitigation, world peace, public safety, a full spectrum of housing, healthcare for all, the arts, a narrower wealth gap, and civil civic discourse.
