SP0135 Project LocationProject Details/Neighborhood

Island Crest Way from 90th Ave SE to SE 68th Street

Background

A number of traffic safety and operation concerns were identified as part of the Island Crest Way Corridor Safety Analysis in 2022. The next phase of the project aims to address a number of these deficiencies and plan for future projects.

Description

This project includes planning and development of roadway improvements along a one-mile segment of Island Crest Way, including a street lighting study, shared-use path pre-design (analysis of constraints and development of options/alternatives), multiple crosswalk improvements (design and construction), design feasibility study (reconfigurations including a roundabout at SE 68th Street and right turn lane at SE 53rd Place), tree condition assessment (evaluation of all trees in the right-of-way to study health, risks, and maintaining the street tree canopy). The shared use path pre-design will evaluate paths on both sides of Island Crest Way and present the results to the City Council. The feasibility study, analyses, and pre-design efforts will likely result in additional future capital project proposals. City staff will seek viable grant opportunities as the project proceeds.
