Trailside Pruning Workshop | Pioneer Park

Wednesday, June 3, 2026 - 1:00pm to 3:00pm

Two volunteers posed holding loppers and pruners standing on a trail in the forest.

Spring brings lots of wonderful things to the forest, flowers are blooming, birds are singing, everything is so green! And with all this new growth comes a challenge: our trails are closing in! As our plants are sending out new branches and leaves, they have no care for where our trail system is. To manage this new growth, we’re calling on you!

Join us this June 3rd as we host a trailside pruning workshop. We’ll teach you all about the proper ways to prune plants and shrubs, for both the health of the plant and for the sake of the trail. We’ll spend the first part of the workshop learning about different types of pruning cuts, and how to best manage pruning on the trail. You can expect to learn a bit about plant biology, and native ecology. We’ll spend the remainder of the workshop making intentional pruning cuts along a trail. Our facilitators will provide tips, tricks, and corrections while you do the work!
