The Mercer Island Bike Skills Area (BSA) is a new skill-building course for riders of all ages. Designed by American Ramp Company, the BSA includes beginner and intermediate bike trails with jumps and other features, as well as a bicycle playground area for less-experienced riders.

Construction of the BSA was completed in fall 2023, and the facility is now open for use from dawn to dusk daily. Throughout 2024, City staff and volunteers will restore vegetation around the bike trails and features, as well as monitor maintenance needs. To maintain the safety of riders and the integrity of the course, the City may need to close the BSA periodically due to weather impacts and repair needs; closure information will be posted at the park and, when possible, on the City's website.

The City is in the process of developing policies for seasonal closures, rentals, special events, and other needs, which is slated to be complete by the end of 2024.  Staff appreciates the community's patience as policies around managing this new, unique recreational facility on Mercer Island are developed.
