Island Lanterns: Community Installation Day

Saturday, February 25, 2023 - 10:00am to 3:00pm

Community members install creative lanterns in Mercerdale Park as part of the 2021 Island Lanterns project.

Meet us at Mercerdale Park to install the 2023 Island Lanterns community art display!

Community members of all ages are invited to use their talents and help us create imaginative outdoor, illuminated art displays for Mercerdale Park*. We’ll provide the lanterns; you provide your creativity! More details about creating lanterns are available at www.mercerisland.gov/islandlanterns.

Drop completed lanterns off at the Pergola at Mercerdale on Saturday, February 25, from 10am-3pm (weather permitting). City staff and volunteers will collect and install lanterns on the same day, so feel free to stick around to assist with creating the display!

Questions about this project? Contact Sarah Bluvas, CIP Project Manager, at sarah.bluvas@mercerisland.gov

*Please note: The exhibit location was previously advertised as the Greta Hackett Outdoor Sculpture Gallery. Since construction on 77th Ave SE and Sunset Highway is happening, we've decided to shift the exhibit back to the 2021 location.

This community art project is part of the City’s efforts to use arts and culture to inspire the community, support Island businesses, and activate Mercer Island Town Center in the winter months. This project is supported by grant funding from ArtsWA and the National Endowment for the Arts
