City Clerk Andrea Larson

Andrea Larson, CMC

Andrea moved to Mercer Island in 1983 and later graduated from Mercer Island High School.  After many years in retail management, including local Island retailers, Andrea began her municipal career working for the City of Mercer Island in 2009 in the Parks & Recreation Department as the Mercer Island Community and Events Center Nights and Weekend Lead. After almost 7 years with the Parks & Recreation Department, Andrea accepted the Senior Administrative Assistant position with Community Planning & Development (CPD) where she spent 5 years supporting CPD and both the Planning and Design Commissions.  In October 2021 Andrea was appointed to the City Clerk position.

She has always enjoyed being involved in the Mercer Island community and has volunteered with the Boys & Girls Club, Mercer Island Girl Scouts, and more. She continues to look for ways to stay engaged with the Mercer Island community. 

Education

Andrea attained the Certified Municipal Clerk professional designation in January of 2024 and is working on obtaining her Master Municipal Clerk professional designation from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. Each of these certifications require over 120 hours of extensive and rigorous in-classroom instruction and many years of service. These education and professional contribution components are preparing Andrea for the complex role of the Municipal Clerk by providing her with quality education in partnership with institutions of higher learning, as well as State, Provincial, and National Associations.
