There are vacant and expiring positions on the City boards and commissions, and you can join! The recruitment is open through May 8, 2026, click here to apply today! 

Help shape the future of your city in unique ways by sharing your expertise or perspective – candidates must be current residents of Mercer Island, unless otherwise specified by the Mercer Island City Code (see MICC 3.46.030 Planning Commission), and some boards or commissions highly prefer certain qualifications (for example, Planning Commission). The following positions are currently available and accepting applications:

  • Arts Council (3 positions; 1 position term expires May 31, 2027, 2 positions terms expire May 31, 2030)
  • Open Space Conservancy Trust (2 positions; terms expire May 31, 2030)
  • Parks & Recreation Commission (2 positions; terms expire May 31, 2030)
  • Utility Board (2 positions; terms expire May 31, 2030)
