Councilmembers Sworn In, Mayor and Deputy Mayor Elected

January 2, 2024 - At the first City Council meeting of the year, City Clerk Andrea Larson swore in City Councilmembers David Rosenbaum (Position No. 1), Wendy Weiker (Position No. 3), Craig Reynolds (Position No. 5), and Jake Jacobson (Position No. 7) following their re-election last November. The elected Councilmembers will serve another four-year term ending on December 31, 2027.

Under Mercer Island's form of government, councilmembers elect who amongst themselves will serve as Mayor and Deputy Mayor on the council. The Council unanimously selected incumbents Salim Nice to serve as Mayor and David Rosenbaum as Deputy Mayor at the meeting.

Councilembers were joined by friends and family both in-person at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center and virtually on Zoom for the swearing in portion of the meeting.
