Are all Mercer Island utility customers able to see their hourly water use data?
Unfortunately, not every customer will have immediate access to their real-time water use data. Currently, some water meters at the very south end of the island and along East Mercer Way are not connecting reliably to the new system. In these cases, Utility Billing staff are reading the meters on a bi-monthly basis for billing. Upon special request, staff may be able to access hourly water use data directly from a meter and provide it to the customer.
Real-time access to water use data is provided by the City’s new Advanced Metering Infrastructure, which is made up of smart water meters, data collection antennas, and secure cloud-based data transmissions. The City is in the process of installing two more data collection antennas which, in conjunction with the four previously installed antennas, will provide full coverage of Mercer Island. These antennas are expected to be installed and activated in 2026.
Who should I reach out to if I have questions about the new portal or other Utility Billing matters?
You can reach our Utility Billing staff Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 4 pm, by calling 206.275.7783.
