Sales Tax Rates
The total general sales tax rate for Mercer Island is 10.2%. The majority of that amount (6.5%) goes to the State of Washington. The remainder is distributed to various local jurisdictions as detailed below. The City of Mercer Island receives only 0.85% on each taxable sale occurring on the Island. So, for every $100 spent on Mercer Island, the City receives $0.85.
An additional 0.5% sales tax applies to food and beverages sold by restaurants and taverns to pay for the debt service on T-Mobile Park.
