Jennifer Goodrich Named Mercer Island’s 2024 Community Member of the Year

Mercer Island, WA – The Mercer Island City Council is proud to announce Jennifer Goodrich as the 2024 Community Member of the Year, an annual honor recognizing exceptional volunteer service and leadership within the Mercer Island community.

The City Council selected Jennifer for the award, a long-standing tradition since 1990, at the City Council’s Planning Session in February. At the June 3 City Council meeting, Jennifer was presented with a proclamation and award in recognition of her significant contributions to the Mercer Island Farmers Market and her enduring commitment to building a vibrant, connected community.

Jennifer has served on the Board of Directors of the Mercer Island Farmers Market since 2018, holding several leadership positions including President, Vice President, and currently Past President. Her guidance and determination were especially vital during the Market’s post-COVID recovery period, when she helped navigate complex challenges and ensure the Market’s continued success.

“Jennifer has devoted countless hours to the Farmers Market, and her leadership has helped it grow into a cherished community gathering space,” said Mayor Nice. “Her passion, problem-solving skills, and inclusive approach embody the very best of Mercer Island’s spirit.”

Under Jennifer’s leadership, the Farmers Market has expanded its role as a community hub—supporting local farmers and vendors, fostering connections among residents, and celebrating the Island’s unique sense of place.

The City Council extends its heartfelt thanks to Jennifer Goodrich for her years of dedicated service and is honored to recognize her as the 2024 Community Member of the Year.
