Arbor Day | Homestead Park
Come celebrate Arbor Day with Mercer Island Natural Resources Team! Arbor Day is an annual event where we celebrate our urban canopy and help to create future healthier forests.
This Arbor Day we’ll be at Homestead Park. Maybe best known for it’s playfields and tennis courts, this park is also home to important wildlife habitat! Included within the park limits are a thriving wetland, and a lovely forest full of towering trees. Volunteers have been hard at work this year clearing away lots of blackberry to make space for native plantings!
This Arbor Day will consist of three very important restoration practices: removing blackberry, planting trees, and spreading mulch. Please join us while we celebrate trees and help to make this park healthier habitat!
