Rain Barrels

Rainwater harvesting can be a great way to save money and improve your landscape health! Reduce your water bills, and the demand on the Island’s water system, by harvesting rainwater for your outdoor watering needs. Outdoor plants thrive when irrigated from collected rainwater. Rainwater does not contain chlorine, which is an important additive that keeps potable water safe for drinking, making it a better fit for watering particularly for more sensitive plants.

Puget Sound averages about 3 feet of rain per year, but three-quarters of it falls from October to March. Most areas in the region only see an average of 3 inches in total rainfall for June, July, and August. Outdoor water use causes a large spike in water demand during these dry months. Keep your water bills lower, and use collected rain water to maintain your outdoor space!

The City has a limited number of rain barrels for sale for $35.

Included with every Systern Rain Barrel:

  • •One (1) set of assembly instructions.
  • •One (1) accessory kit with spigot, washer, nut, overflow hose and 4 screws
