Background

The City of Mercer Island (City) currently operates 85 pressure-reducing valve (PRV) stations to supply water to the Island. Previous investigations by the City showed that approximately 25 percent of the existing PRVs are in poor condition and many others have operational issues and deficiencies.

Description

An assessment of the 20 poorest condition PRV stations within the system was completed in 2021. It included a visual condition assessment and analysis to rank and prioritize them for replacement or upgrade in the coming years. Through the assessment, the five highest-risk stations were selected and four will be replaced under this project. These stations are located at four different locations.
