Coyotes: Information from the Experts

Monday, November 15, 2021 - 6:30pm to 8:00pm

The City has partnered with an urban coyote specialist from the United States Department of Agriculture's Wildlife Services division to conduct an assessment of coyote patterns and activity on Mercer Island.

Matt Stevens, the Assistant District Supervisor and Urban Coyote Coordinator for the USDA’s Wildlife Services Western District, will present information about coyote ecology, methods to decrease and prevent conflict with coyotes, and how it relates to them here on Mercer Island. Matt's analysis and report can be viewed here.

Matt has a B.S in Wildlife Management and has studied coyote behavior, especially in urban settings, for over 20 years – he also launched an Urban Coyote Program in response to increased requests for assistance from the public, like we’ve seen on the Island.

Join us on November 15 at 6:30pm via Zoom to participate.
