Biannual Recycling Event
Safely dispose of the old equipment, hardware, appliances, and other household items that are cluttering your basement or garage at the annual Mercer Island Fall Recycle Event on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
WHAT YOU CAN BRING:
- Confidential Document Shredding (5 box limit/6 paper bag limit)
- Tires*

- Electronic Equipment
- Scrap Metal*
- Lead Acid & Household Batteries
- Porcelain Toilets & Sinks*

- Appliances, Refrigerators & Freezers* (emptied and unsealed)

- Printers and Copiers*
- Styrofoam

*Pricing to Accept Specific Items (CASH ONLY):
- Air Conditioner: $35
- Fridge or Freezer: $35
- Mattress or Boxspring [Must be dry]: $35
- Propane Tanks [Residential only]: $10
- Tires: Up to 6 small (<18") car tires free, $3 for each additional tire, all car tires on rim $6; truck tire $15, truck tire on rim $30
- Toilets and sinks: $25
- Water Heater w/insulation: $5
- Printers and Copiers: $5
HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE:
Household Hazardous Waste is not accepted at these events but can be taken to King County’s Factoria Transfer Station; more information and hours can be found online or by calling 206-296-4692.

Rain Barrel Sale
Rain barrels are also on sale for $35 between now and October 16! Go to this website and select "Rain Barrel" to make a purchase.
After purchasing a rain barrel, you can pick it up during the Fall Recycle Event on Saturday, October 17, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Mercer Island Boat Launch. Be prepared to show event staff your purchase confirmation email.
The City has a limited supply, so make sure to reserve yours before 11:59 PM on October 16, 2026.
Your purchase will include:
- One (1) green 55-gallon rain barrel
- One (1) set of assembly instructions
- One (1) accessory kit with spigot, washer, nut, overflow hose and four (4) screws
- One (1) lid with mosquito mesh
