Biannual Recycling Event
Safely dispose of the old equipment, hardware, appliances, and other household items that are cluttering your basement or garage at the annual Mercer Island's Spring Recycling Event on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
***Please note that this event takes place on Sunday, rather than our standard Saturday events. Additionally, unlike past Spring events, Styrofoam will not be collected, but we will be collecting TVs, computers, and monitors. We plan to include Styrofoam collection in the Fall event.

- Tires: Up to 6 small (<18") car tires free, $3 for each additional tire, all car tires on rim $6; truck tire $15, truck tire on rim $30

Also accepting donations to MIYFS Food Security Programs!
Mercer Island Youth and Family Services (MIYFS) has been working hard to keep up with increased demand in emergency assistance. The MIYFS Foundation will be at the event to accept monetary (cash/credit/check) donations to support providing food to families. We also accept any unused or partially used gift card to distribute to Emergency Assistance program participants. All donations are tax deductible and go towards helping Islanders in need.
Alternative Disposal Options
- Visit the Mercer Island Thrift Shop to donate usable household goods and clothing and drop off batteries in our recycling box
- Styrofoam, along with many other items, can be recycled at the Recology Issaquah Store. Visit www.recology.com/recology-king-county/issaquah/recology-store/
- Drop off paint for recycling on April 11 at City Hall or explore more paint recycling options at www.paintcare.org/wa
- Visit www.atg.wa.gov/community-shred-events for more paper shredding options
- Household Hazardous Waste is not accepted at these events but can be taken to King County’s Factoria Transfer Station. More information and hours can be found online or by calling 206-296-4692.
