Project Title: Luther Burbank Park Boiler Building Phase LBB1
Bid Number: 23-30
Engineers Estimated Cost for Base Bid (range): $1,375,000 - $1,450,000, exclusive of WSST.

Sealed bids will be received, not sent, electronically by the city until 2:00 pm on November 14, 2023. Bidders shall submit their bids in PDF format to the Public Works email address at publicworks@mercerisland.gov. There will be no public bid opening for this project; bid results will be posted on the City’s webpage at: https://www.mercerisland.gov/rfps.

Work to be performed under this contract includes, but is not limited to:

  • Seismic Retrofit & Limited Exterior Renovation
    • Restore Existing Masonry, Anchor Ties, & Repointing at Entrances
    • Remove & Reinstall Existing Ston Parapet with Seismic Anchors
    • Remove Top Portion of Chimney & Install New Weather Cap
    • Reinforce Remaining Chimney
    • Install New Roofing
  • New Interior Mezzanine Construction
    • Install New Concrete Slab & Interior Footings
    • Install New Mezzanine Floor Framing & Composite Concrete Floor
    • Install New Stair & Guardrail for Mezzanine
  • Install New Interior & Exterior Light Fixtures
  • Renovate Toilet Rooms & Concessions
  • Install New Sewage Pump in Plaza
  • Install New Electrical Panel, Electrical Distribution
  • Install New Fire Alarm
  • Additive Alternate 1
    • Install New Deck & Guardrail on Roof of Existing Bathroom & Concessions

A single contract is to be awarded to the responsible bidder submitting the lowest responsive bid. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive minor irregularities.

Plans, specifications, addenda, and bidders list are available on-line through Builders Exchange of Washington, Inc. at http://www.bxwa.com. Click on “Posted Projects”, “Public Works”, “City of Mercer Island”, “Projects Bidding”. Builders Exchange manages the official bidders list. Bidders are encouraged to register in order to receive automatic email notification of future addenda and to be placed on the official bidders list.

Plans and specifications are also available at the City of Mercer Island website https://www.mercerisland.gov/rfps. Addenda may not be available or updated on this website.

A bid deposit in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid total price must accompany each bid.

Bidders questions are to be directed to Jim Cary at Cardinal Architecture PC by email at jim@cardinalarchitecture.com. All questions must be submitted by 9am on November 7, 2023.
